Iran security chief says West Asian security must be regionally driven after four-way Tehran meeting

Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Major General Rezaei told reporters on Monday that a four-way meeting held in Tehran with senior officials from Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia concluded that security in West Asia must be regionally driven, with foreign interference prevented.

Speaking after attending the meeting, Rezaei said regional cooperation should have begun long ago. He stated that the visit by senior officials from Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia showed that US threats have little influence over countries around the world. He also said that the Iranian people's resistance and the strength of the country's armed forces had created a new, positive atmosphere in the region, as reflected in the talks with the senior officials from the three countries.

According to Rezaei, the results of the Iranian people's resistance are becoming increasingly clear. He said the senior officials from Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia believed that regional problems could be resolved through cooperation among all four countries. "We reached the conclusion that West Asian security must be regionally driven, with foreign interference prevented," the SNSC secretary concluded.

The meeting brought together senior security officials from Iran, Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in Tehran. The SNSC is Iran's top security decision-making body, and its secretary is a senior military figure. The talks took place amid ongoing regional tensions and longstanding US pressure on Iran and other countries in the region.

Rezaei's remarks emphasized regional cooperation as the preferred path for addressing security issues in West Asia, and he presented the four-way meeting as evidence that external pressure has limited effect on the countries involved. The report by Mehr News (MNA) added that the officials from the three visiting countries shared the view that regional problems could be addressed through joint cooperation among the four states.
