About this collection

Du'a — supplication — is foundational to Islamic spiritual practice. In Shia tradition, the most-recited supplications are taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the twelve Imams (a.s.), preserved in classical compendia such as Mafatih al-Jinan by Shaykh Abbas Qummi, al-Misbah al-Mutahajjid by Shaykh Tusi, and Iqbal al-A'mal by Sayyid Ibn Tawus.

This library is gathering the supplications most-recited in the Pakistani Shia community and the diaspora — Dua Kumayl, Dua Tawassul, Dua Nudba, Dua Jawshan Kabir, Dua al-Sahar, and others. Each entry will carry full Arabic text, transliteration, Urdu and English translation, and an explicit citation back to its classical source.

Every body of text is published only after scholarly review, to preserve accuracy and integrity.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where do these supplications come from?
Most are drawn from Mafatih al-Jinan by Shaykh Abbas Qummi — the most widely-used Shia book of supplications and ziyarat. A smaller set comes from Shaykh Tusi's al-Misbah al-Mutahajjid and Sayyid Ibn Tawus's Iqbal al-A'mal.
  • Is the full text already available?
We are publishing each supplication's full text, transliteration, and translation in waves. Every body of text goes through scholarly review before going live. You can browse the catalogue today; the full bodies will appear as they are verified.
  • Is there a specific time to recite each dua?
Many supplications have traditional times — Dua Kumayl on the eve of Friday, Dua al-Sahar in the pre-dawn hours of Ramadan, Dua Nudba on Friday morning. Each detail page will document the recommended occasions and etiquette.
  • What's the difference between a Dua and an A'maal?
A du'a is a single supplication that may be recited at any time. A'maal are sequences of devotional acts — supplications, prayers, fasting — tied to specific Islamic days such as Ashura, Laylat al-Qadr, or the Day of Arafah.
