US escalates aggression in Persian Gulf amid Iran's countermeasures

In recent days, the United States has escalated its military posture against Iran, violating the ceasefire agreement signed by President Trump. Iran has responded with countermeasures in the region and beyond, targeting countries that facilitated US aggression. Iran has also warned that if the US expands its attacks, Israeli infrastructure will not remain safe.

The US is attempting to portray a peaceful image while increasing aggression, a stance Iran finds unacceptable. Mediation efforts continue: a Qatari delegation met Iran's Foreign Minister in Mashhad, and Pakistani officials held phone calls with senior Iranian leaders. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi visited Oman to coordinate on the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that only Iran and Oman have the right to manage the strait. Iran has introduced safe routes for ships, requiring them to pass through designated channels.

According to Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iran and the US, Iran and Oman are responsible for managing the Strait of Hormuz. While Iran fulfills its commitments, the US has violated the ceasefire by attacking southern Iran. Iran expects regional countries, especially Qatar as an intermediary, to urge shipping companies to comply with the MoU and ask the US to adhere to its provisions.

Some commercial vessels have been using uncoordinated routes and disabling GPS or AIS systems, risking collisions, environmental hazards, and undermining Iran's efforts to ensure safe transit. The Strait was open before the US aggression on March 21, 1404 (2025), which caused insecurity and blockage. Iran states that the blockage will continue until the US, as the source of insecurity, is removed.

The US military, facing defeats, has turned to Britain for continued aggression. CENTCOM, after depleting missile reserves on its ships, plans to use B1 bombers from RAF Fairford in the UK. Iran warns that any base used for attacks on Iran is a legitimate target, and Britain will face human losses and destruction. The UK's foreign policy has been consistently anti-Iran, lacking independence from Washington, and has obstructed balanced Iran-Europe relations.

The UK's recent designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a security threat is unjustified and violates international law. The IRGC is part of Iran's official armed forces, responsible for defending territorial integrity and national security. The UK's decision to allow US use of British bases exposes Fairford and Diego Garcia to legitimate attack, creating a crisis for the new British government. British intellectuals and anti-war parties can play a role in dissuading London from this wrong decision. According to Mehr News, the situation remains tense as Iran insists on its sovereign rights and warns of consequences for any aggression.
