Yemeni forces down Saudi Karayel drone over Hajjah, spokesman says

Yemen's armed forces brought down an armed Saudi Karayel reconnaissance drone over Hajjah province, according to the Yemeni military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree. Saree said the aircraft was of the Karayel model and was armed at the time it was downed.

According to the spokesman, the drone downed over Hajjah was the fourth of the same model since the start of recent tensions, and the seventh of this type since such drones first entered Yemen's airspace. He did not give further details on the circumstances of the interception or the location within Hajjah province.

Separately, Saree said that on Saturday night Yemeni forces downed a Saudi Apache helicopter in the Najran border area with Yemen. He did not provide additional information about that incident in the remarks reported.

The reported interceptions come amid ongoing tensions between Yemeni forces and Saudi Arabia. The spokesman's statements did not specify the exact date of the Hajjah drone downing or describe any casualties or damage on the ground.

Mehr News reported the statements by Brigadier General Yahya Saree. The report did not include a response from Saudi authorities to the claims.
