Yemeni armed forces have advanced to within approximately 7 kilometers of Taiz city, according to reports cited by the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen Network's office in Yemen. The reports indicate that the advance is part of ongoing operations against forces described as Saudi-backed mercenaries. The Yemeni armed forces are continuing their advance on the western and southern fronts of the country, while attacks on Riyadh and other regions of Saudi Arabia are also continuing.
According to the Anadolu Agency, official Saudi statistics show that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has been targeted five times since last Tuesday. A spokesman for the Saudi-led military coalition confirmed a new attack on King Khalid Airport on Sunday evening. The spokesman stated that an unidentified projectile hit passenger terminal number 4 of the international airport, causing a fire. The same spokesman also announced that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile around King Khalid International Airport.
The reported advance near Taiz and the continued attacks on Saudi territory mark an ongoing phase in the conflict. The Saudi-led coalition has been conducting military operations in Yemen since 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government, while the Yemeni armed forces, aligned with Ansarallah, have carried out cross-border attacks into Saudi Arabia. The city of Taiz has been a focal point of fighting for years, with front lines running through its outskirts.
The reports of the advance near Taiz and the confirmation of the airport attack come amid heightened regional tensions. The Saudi coalition spokesman's confirmation of the projectile hitting the passenger terminal and the interception of a cruise missile indicates that aerial threats to Saudi infrastructure continue. No immediate details were provided on casualties or the extent of damage from the fire at the airport terminal.
According to Mehr News, which cited Al-Mayadeen and Anadolu Agency, the situation on the ground in Taiz and the attacks on Riyadh remain active developments. The report added that the Yemeni armed forces' advances on multiple fronts are continuing alongside the strikes on Saudi territory.
