A senior official from Yemen's Ansarullah movement has warned that oil, industrial and other vital facilities across Saudi Arabia are no longer secure. The warning came from Hizam al-Assad, a member of Ansarullah's political bureau, in response to a Saudi airstrike on a correctional facility in the northern province of al-Jawf that left more than a dozen casualties, including a visiting child.
Al-Assad stated, "Oil-producing areas, industrial sites and vital facilities across Saudi Arabia are no longer safe." He further cautioned that the threat could have serious economic consequences for the kingdom, saying the "future of investment in Saudi Arabia is at risk of being destroyed."
The warning follows Saudi authorities' reports that several sites described as "civilian and economic" had been targeted in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. Saudi officials claim 73 people have been injured as a result of these attacks. Additionally, Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry said the attacks caused fires at several sites in the southern region and temporarily disrupted some operations.
On Monday, Yemeni Army spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree issued a statement accusing the Riyadh regime of launching new rounds of airstrikes and committing further massacres in Yemen, in tandem with a tight blockade against its southern neighbor. He pointed out that the most recent Saudi actions against Yemen included the deadly strike in al-Jawf, reconnaissance flights over multiple districts, and supplying allied militants with various types of munitions.
The conflict between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has been ongoing for years, with the Saudi-led coalition intervening in Yemen's civil war. The Houthi movement, officially known as Ansarullah, has frequently targeted Saudi territory in retaliation for coalition airstrikes. According to Mehr News Agency, the statements from al-Assad and Saree highlight the escalating tensions and the potential for further economic and military repercussions in the region.
