Yemen's armed forces spokesman Yahya Saree announced on Sunday that two ballistic missile operations were carried out against gatherings of Saudi-affiliated mercenaries in Aden and Lahj provinces, according to a statement reported by Mehr News.
Saree said gatherings of Saudi mercenary forces and their weapons depots in the Salah al-Din area of Aden province were targeted with a ballistic missile. In a separate operation, the al-Waht area in Lahj province was heavily struck with a ballistic missile, leaving dozens killed and wounded, he stated.
The spokesman said the strikes destroyed large numbers of tanks and military vehicles as well as weapons depots managed under a Saudi officer named Badr al-Harbi. No independent confirmation of the reported casualties or damage was immediately available.
Aden and Lahj are located in southern Yemen, a region that has seen repeated clashes involving forces aligned with the Saudi-led coalition. The Yemeni armed forces have regularly announced missile and drone operations against positions they describe as belonging to Saudi-affiliated forces.
The report by Mehr News added that the announcement was carried by Yemen's armed forces spokesman and did not include further details on the timing of the operations or the exact number of casualties.
