The spokesman for Yemen's armed forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said the group carried out two operations inside Saudi territory, according to Yemeni broadcaster Al-Masirah TV. In a statement, Saree said two military transport aircraft were targeted with two ballistic missiles, one at Najran Airport and the other at the King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait. He described both operations as successful.
Saree had earlier announced that the Yemeni armed forces targeted the Ras Tanura refinery in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province with a ballistic missile. He said the strike was precise and caused a large fire at the impact site.
The Yemeni armed forces have repeatedly stated that they will continue attacks against Saudi Arabia until the kingdom ends its operations in Yemen and lifts its blockade. The reported strikes are part of that stated policy.
No independent confirmation of the reported attacks or of the damage they caused was immediately available. Saudi authorities have not commented on the claims in the report.
According to Mehr News, citing Al-Masirah TV, the spokesman presented the two aircraft strikes and the refinery attack as part of the same ongoing campaign.
