In a post on his X account late on Thursday, Esmaeil Ghaani, commander of the IRGC Quds Force, addressed the ongoing Israeli war on Lebanon. He wrote, "The Zionist regime must know that the occupation, aggression, and continuous crimes against the people of southern Lebanon will never break the iron will of the resilient Lebanese people and fighters of Hezbollah Resistance Movement."
Ghaani further stated that southern Lebanon has always been and will remain a land of honor, resistance, and steadfastness. He emphasized that Hezbollah, as a symbol of resistance and honor of the Islamic nation, will continue to be at the forefront of defending Lebanon and confronting the excessive demands of the occupying regime of Israel. He added that the divine promise of victory of truth over falsehood will be fulfilled.
The comments come amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with cross-border attacks and Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon. Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon, has been a key player in the region, supported by Iran. The IRGC Quds Force is the branch of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responsible for extraterritorial operations.
According to Mehr News, Ghaani's remarks reaffirm Iran's support for Hezbollah and the Lebanese resistance against Israeli actions. The report by Mehr News added that the statement underscores the ongoing solidarity between Iran and the resistance axis in the region.
