Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Tuesday that the United States will fail in its economic war against Iran, just as it has failed militarily and politically. He made the remarks during a meeting with Faiq Zaidan, President of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council, in Tehran.
Ghalibaf stated that "The United States launched a war against Iran to overthrow the Islamic Republic and expand American hegemony in West Asia and the Muslim world." He added that "thanks to the blood of the martyrs, the efforts of the brave Iranian people, and the support of the resistance front, the United States has clearly failed, and the whole world knows that." He further asserted that "The United States has failed militarily and politically, and it will also fail in its economic actions," in an apparent reference to newly announced US economic measures against Iran.
The Iranian speaker also addressed regional developments, saying that "A new regional order is emerging, and the current circumstances are sensitive and historic for both Iran and Iraq." He praised the withdrawal of US-led coalition forces from Iraq as "a historic achievement for the Iraqi government and people," expressing hope that the withdrawal would be fully implemented on the ground and in Iraq's airspace.
Ghalibaf warned that the Zionist regime plans to expand the conflict to other countries in the region, noting that "If Israel had succeeded in its conflict with Iran, it would have turned its attention to other countries." He called on Islamic countries to "set aside divisive issues," citing the unity of Shia and Sunni Muslims during the war in Gaza. He recalled that "Martyr Soleimani always said that Shia and Sunni Muslims are brothers, and we are willing to sacrifice our lives for the Sunni community."
Concluding his remarks, Ghalibaf expressed confidence that "Iran and Iraq can play a decisive role in shaping the new regional order, particularly in the Persian Gulf region." The meeting was reported by Mehr News Agency (MNA).
