Iran's Parliament Speaker Says US Bullying and Broken Promises Have Failed

In a post on X on Thursday evening, Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf criticized the United States' approach towards Iran, describing it as a failed strategy of bullying and broken promises. He pointed to the rapid shift from threats of a 'massive attack' to sudden calls for negotiation, calling it a recurring pattern of insincere diplomacy.

Ghalibaf wrote, "'Massive attack coming… wait, never mind, they want to negotiate.' That’s theater diplomacy on loop." He stressed that reliance on bullying, unfulfilled commitments, and fake news as tools of pressure constitutes a failed approach.

The speaker called on the other side to acknowledge established facts and honor previous ceasefire commitments rather than continue the cycle of empty threats and sudden reversals. "Using bullying + broken promises + fake news as leverage is a failed strategy. Acknowledge the facts and fulfill your commitments. We don’t need more theater," he stated.

His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with recent developments including discussions over the Strait of Hormuz and potential talks between the two countries. The United States has alternated between military threats and offers of negotiation, a pattern that Iranian officials have consistently criticized.

According to Mehr News Agency, Ghalibaf's comments reflect Tehran's stance that Washington must change its approach and engage in genuine diplomacy based on mutual respect and adherence to international commitments.
