US claims 80 targets hit in fresh attacks against Iran

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it struck approximately 80 targets in fresh attacks against Iran. The strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, and anti-ship missile capabilities. CENTCOM also claimed that more than 60 small boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were hit in and near the Strait of Hormuz. The stated aim was to degrade Iran's ability to continue attacking international commerce flowing through the strategic waterway.

According to CENTCOM, the strikes were in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that transited the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday. The US military asserted that these actions were necessary to protect freedom of navigation and international trade. However, there was no immediate confirmation from the Iranian side regarding the reported strikes or the alleged attacks on commercial vessels.
