Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, a senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said in remarks published on Friday that the United States has imposed its harshest economic sanctions on Iran but has failed to make the Iranian people abandon their goals or give in to pressure. He added that US officials have also openly admitted to Washington's political defeats.
Fadavi highlighted the strategic importance of the Persian Gulf and Iran's naval capabilities, stating that American forces have withdrawn their warships and other naval equipment more than 1,000 kilometers from Iran's borders during recent conflicts. Whenever they attempted to move closer, he said, Iran's Armed Forces responded swiftly.
The remarks were published by Mehr News Agency (MNA) on Friday. The report did not specify the exact timeframe of the conflicts referenced by Fadavi or provide further details on the US naval deployments.
Fadavi's comments come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, which have been marked by sanctions and military standoffs in the region. The IRGC commander's statements underscore Iran's emphasis on its naval deterrence and its stance against US pressure.
According to Mehr News, Fadavi also noted that the US has failed to achieve its objectives despite imposing severe sanctions, and that American officials have acknowledged political setbacks.
