President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed a meeting at the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) on Wednesday, attended by Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Madanizadeh, CBI Governor Abdolnasser Hemmati, and several university lecturers specializing in economics. The meeting focused on the decision-making process within the financial and banking body.
During the meeting, Pezeshkian highlighted the special conditions facing the country due to the outbreak of war, economic blockade, and foreign pressures. He emphasized the need to continue economic stability and curb inflation expectations, stating, "Under such circumstances, managing key markets, especially the foreign exchange and capital market, requires complete coordination and interaction between the monetary policymaking body, government, and other economic pillars of the country."
The president thanked both the public and private sectors for overcoming difficulties despite sanctions, stressing, "Resolving issues through interaction and negotiation is the prime goal in the country, but at the same time, we will stand firm against economic pressures, as we have done so far and will continue to do so."
Pezeshkian asserted that with the drastic measures taken, the United States will not achieve its malicious objectives through economic pressure, noting that the US was defeated in the previous two wars imposed against the noble nation of Islamic Iran.
According to Mehr News, the meeting was part of ongoing consultations between the government and the central bank to address economic challenges. The report added that the president's remarks underscore Iran's commitment to resisting external pressures while pursuing diplomatic engagement.
