Araghchi tells Austrian counterpart US economic terrorism must end

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session in New York. The two diplomats discussed key international and regional developments as well as bilateral issues of mutual interest, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA).

During the meeting, Araghchi outlined the current situation in the region, attributing insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and disruptions to shipping to what he called aggressive actions by the United States and the Zionist regime. He stated that restoring maritime security in the region would require an end to America's destabilising actions and economic terrorism.

The Iranian foreign minister also referenced the ongoing genocide of Palestinians and what he described as flagrant violations of international law by the Israeli regime. He further cited the Zionist regime's continued aggression against Lebanon and other countries in the region. Araghchi emphasised the responsibility of all nations, particularly European countries, to halt any support for the occupying regime and to end its impunity.

The meeting took place amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing international concerns over maritime security in the Persian Gulf. The 81st UN General Assembly session in New York has provided a platform for bilateral discussions on these issues.

According to Mehr News Agency, the exchange between Araghchi and Meinl-Reisinger reflects Iran's continued diplomatic engagement on regional security matters and its calls for international action.
