US declares end to strikes on southern Iran

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of self-defense strikes against Iran on June 9, conducted at the direction of the Commander in Chief in response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter the previous day. According to a CENTCOM statement, the strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz. Precision munitions were delivered by U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter jets. CENTCOM described the operation as a proportional response to recent attacks on U.S. forces and international commercial ships transiting regional waters.

Meanwhile, reports from southern Iran indicate that U.S. missile strikes destroyed two strategic water tanks in Sirik county, cutting off drinking water to several villages. The attack occurred early Wednesday. In retaliation, Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command stated that army and IRGC forces struck U.S. bases in the region in response to American military aggression in southern Iran.

The development marks a significant escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran, with both sides conducting military operations in the strategic Strait of Hormuz area. According to Mehr News, the U.S. has declared an end to these strikes, but the situation remains volatile.
