Iran says US caused regional insecurity while calling for condemnation of Iran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Wednesday that the United States and Israel attacked Iran twice in less than nine months while negotiations were underway, and that Washington is now asking the world to condemn Iran. In a post on his X account, Baghaei wrote that the two countries "massacred our children in Minab, murdered our daughters in Lamerd, assassinated our leaders, and intensified sanctions on our people."

Baghaei said the United States destroyed the memorandum of understanding it signed on 17 June, and added that "the world is paying the price of your unlawful aggression through regional instability and global economic insecurity." He strongly denounced what he described as the hypocrisy of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, saying the world is paying the price for a US war of aggression.

Referring to US and Israeli actions, the spokesman wrote, "You cannot launch a war of choice, set the region ablaze, unleash global chaos, and then play the victim. You cannot evade responsibility by turning the aggressor into the accuser and the victim into the culprit." He reiterated that the United States invaded Iran three times amid formal negotiations and destroyed the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, and he repeated allegations of war crimes in Minab and Lamerd, the assassination of Iranian leaders and intensified sanctions.

The statement follows earlier Iranian official comments on US and Israeli military action against Iran and on the collapse of the memorandum of understanding signed in June. According to Mehr News, Baghaei made the remarks in a post on his X account on Wednesday.
