Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Tehran that the United States cannot be trusted in negotiations, according to Mehr News. Mirzoyan was in the Iranian capital as part of an official visit.
"Every time we come to the negotiating table, we are immediately faced with war," Pezeshkian said. "So far, they have attacked us three times after talks, and this shows that they are not seeking dialogue. Rather, their goal is to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran," he added.
The Iranian president further stated, "With an enemy that every day resorts to assassination, sanctions, pressure and threats, and that breaks its commitments, negotiations are meaningless." He also called for the expansion of trade ties with Armenia.
According to Mehr News, the remarks were made during Mirzoyan's official visit to Tehran.
