Iranian MP says US hostility toward Iran is civilizational

In an open session of the Iranian parliament on Wednesday, MP Ali Nikzad commemorated Aban 13, which marks the National Day of Fighting the Global Arrogance and the anniversary of the 1979 US Embassy takeover. He stated that Aban 13 is not merely a date on the calendar but the day the true face of global arrogance was unmasked, when students following Imam Khomeini's path seized the "Den of Espionage" and exposed America's crimes in Iran and worldwide.

Nikzad said documents obtained from the embassy proved that America's hostility toward the Iranian nation is a civilizational enmity directed at the independence, identity, and dignity of a nation that refuses domination. He added that US crimes against Iran did not begin on Aban 13 but were the natural consequence of decades of American obstructionism and atrocities. He cited the August 19, 1953 coup (Mordad 28, 1332), in which the US overthrew the incumbent government and reinstated the despotic Pahlavi regime. Through control of natural resources, deployment of military and political advisors, and political dominance via the puppet Pahlavi regime, the US usurped the inalienable rights of the Iranian people for years, he said, adding that the documents from the "Den of Espionage" serve as irrefutable evidence of these crimes.

According to Nikzad, these records reveal that the United States, acting as a colonial power, was the primary instigator and mastermind behind numerous atrocities and acts of plunder, and was even responsible for training and implementing torture methods used by SAVAK, the intelligence and security organization during the Pahlavi regime. He noted that these hostilities continued after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, with the Americans inciting separatist groups and supporting counterrevolutionary elements in efforts to oppose the Islamic Revolution.

The remarks were made during a parliamentary session dedicated to commemorating Aban 13, an annual event in Iran that marks the 1979 seizure of the US embassy in Tehran by student activists. The day is officially known as the National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance. Nikzad's speech reiterated long-standing Iranian grievances against the United States, including the 1953 coup and subsequent support for the Pahlavi monarchy. The documents captured from the embassy have often been cited by Iranian officials as evidence of US interference in Iran's internal affairs. The speech comes amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States. Mehr News Agency reported on the parliamentary session and Nikzad's remarks.
