Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, a senior commander in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said that the United States has admitted defeat in the recent war against Iran. He described the conflict as "the only war in which America, without achieving anything, has accepted its defeat." Mohebbi made these remarks in a statement carried by Mehr News Agency (MNA).
Mohebbi credited journalists and media with contributing to the outcome, suggesting that their role was significant in countering enemy narratives. He asserted that "the enemy has been forced to rapidly retreat from all the objectives it had imagined and set for itself, and is now on a trajectory of declining aims."
According to Mohebbi, the United States is now focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed to shipping under Iranian control since earlier in the conflict. He noted that the strait was previously open and that the enemy is now trying to open it again. "Today the enemy has reached a point where its entire effort is focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz," he said.
Mohebbi emphasized that the strait is no longer merely a waterway but "a geography of battle," and that Iran's current strategy is to hold it. "This strategy will continue until the enemy accepts all our conditions," he added. Iran has previously stated that the strait will remain shut until U.S. military interference ends.
The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically vital waterway through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass. Its closure has raised concerns about global energy supplies and regional stability. The conflict between Iran and the United States has escalated in recent months, with both sides engaging in military posturing and diplomatic exchanges.
According to the report by Mehr News Agency, Mohebbi's comments reflect Iran's position that it has successfully resisted U.S. pressure and maintained control over key strategic assets. The report added that Iran's strategy in the region remains focused on deterring U.S. interference and securing its national interests.
