UNICEF warns 100,000 children in Lebanon risk missing school

A nationwide assessment carried out in June by Lebanon’s Education Ministry, with support from UNICEF, found that 340 schools were damaged in the recent conflict between the Israeli regime and Hezbollah. Among these, 17 schools were completely destroyed. The new school year in Lebanon is scheduled to begin in September. The worst-hit areas include Nabatieh, South Lebanon, Bekaa, Baalbek-Hermel, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon, according to UNICEF. The organization warned that approximately 100,000 children are at risk of missing school due to the damage. The assessment highlights the severe impact of the conflict on the education sector, with many families displaced and infrastructure destroyed. According to the report by Mehr News, the situation requires urgent attention to ensure children can resume their education.
