Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that the United Nations General Assembly session provides an opportunity for Iran to convey its positions, grievances and strength to the world. He made the remarks at Mehrabad International Airport before departing for New York to attend the assembly, according to Mehr News.
Pezeshkian said the session is being held under the banner of "trust," a quality he described as absent. He stated that the United States speaks of human rights under this slogan while disregarding them, and accused Washington of blatantly violating many international legal frameworks governing individuals and nations simply because it possesses the power to impose its will through force.
The president described the UN General Assembly as a venue where leaders of countries can convey their message, grievances and strength to the world. He added that at the assembly, Iranian officials will be able to engage in dialogue with numerous politicians from various countries, cultural institutions and the media.
"Attending the UN General Assembly is an opportunity for us to convey our positions, the injustice we have endured, and our strength to the world," Pezeshkian emphasized. He said that despite all the hardships the country's people and armed forces have endured along the path of war and resistance, Iran has emerged victorious, and that the delegation will be able to forcefully articulate its positions and defend the rights of the Iranian nation in these international forums.
According to Mehr News, Pezeshkian's departure for the UN General Assembly marks Iran's participation in the annual gathering of world leaders in New York, where he is expected to hold meetings and deliver remarks on behalf of the Islamic Republic.
