SaveIRGC Says Two Tankers Explode in Mined Zone in Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced on Sunday that two tankers exploded in a mined zone in the Strait of Hormuz. According to an IRGC statement, the vessels had been "deceived by American spy organisations" into attempting to transit a mined route. Both ships suffered massive blazes as a result of the explosions.
The IRGC Navy firmly declared that the Strait of Hormuz, due to the mischief of the child-killing American army, is severely unsafe and completely closed. The statement added, "As long as the aggressions of criminal America do not end, there is no possibility of exporting chemical fertiliser or even a single drop of oil and gas from this region."
The IRGC also warned shipowners not to be deceived and to avoid entering the mined area to preserve their assets and lives. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions in the strategic waterway, through which about a fifth of the world's oil passes. The Strait of Hormuz has been a flashpoint in the confrontation between Iran and the United States, with both sides accusing each other of escalating hostilities.
According to Mehr News, the IRGC's statement did not provide details on the nationality or ownership of the tankers, nor the exact location of the explosions. The report by Mehr News added that the situation remains volatile, and further developments are expected.
