A twin roadside bomb blast in northwestern Pakistan killed at least seven people and injured several others on Tuesday, according to police. The incident occurred in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders the restive North Waziristan tribal region near Afghanistan.
District police chief Yasir Afridi told reporters that the first explosion struck a passenger van, killing five people and injuring three others. The second explosion occurred when locals were shifting the bodies and the injured into ambulances, killing at least two more people.
The bombs were planted alongside a road in the area. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The region has seen frequent militant violence, though security has improved in recent years.
According to the report by Mehr News Agency, citing Anadolu Agency, the attack highlights ongoing security challenges in the region.
