Russia's Central Election Commission announced that voter turnout in the State Duma elections stood at 59 percent, according to figures released after more than 95 percent of protocols had been processed. The commission, chaired by Ella Pamfilova, said the ruling United Russia party received 57.83 percent of the vote, its highest result in a State Duma election since 2007.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) followed with 13.81 percent, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) with 8.98 percent, and the New People party with 7.96 percent. Fair Russia, at 4.96 percent, had not crossed the five percent threshold at the time of the announcement. Other parties recorded smaller shares: the Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice received 2.0 percent, the Greens 1.15 percent, the Communists of Russia 0.85 percent, Rodina 0.72 percent, and the Party of Direct Democracy 0.35 percent, according to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission.
Pamfilova's remarks were quoted by Interfax. The results were reported as counting continued. Earlier, activists and observers reported numerous violations during voting in the southern regions of Russia. The election took place amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, a context noted in the publisher's topic keywords along with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the State Duma.
The figures represent preliminary data and may be subject to change as the remaining protocols are processed. According to Mehr News, the Central Election Commission released the turnout and party results based on more than 95 percent of protocols counted.
