IAEA chief says transferring enriched uranium from Iran is difficult

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Monday that transferring Iran's enriched uranium abroad is technically complex and operationally very difficult. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Grossi noted that US President Donald Trump has repeatedly proposed moving Iran's enriched uranium to another country as part of efforts to address concerns over Iran's nuclear program. Grossi described the proposal as feasible but emphasized the operational challenges involved.

Grossi also mentioned that one of the options under discussion is diluting or reducing the enrichment level of the material to make it less sensitive. He stressed that these issues are currently being discussed among different parties, although the IAEA is not directly involved in the negotiations. The IAEA chief added that he is holding separate talks with Tehran and Washington, with the aim of helping make any potential agreement workable.

According to Mehr News Agency, Grossi's comments come amid ongoing discussions between Iran and world powers over Tehran's nuclear activities. The IAEA continues to monitor Iran's compliance with its nuclear commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
