SaveIran Summons UK Envoy Over Baseless Accusations
In the wake of accusations leveled by British officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the UK ambassador to Tehran was summoned by Alireza Yousefi, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General for Western Europe at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yousefi conveyed Iran's protest against the British government's inappropriate approach towards the Iranian nation.
During the meeting, Yousefi submitted a written note protesting the baseless and false claims that Iran is trying to carry out anti-security measures in the UK. He noted that these accusations are nothing more than projection and evasion of accountability for destructive behaviors contrary to international law. Specifically, he cited UK's complicity with the US and the Zionist regime in committing heinous crimes and destabilizing the West Asian region, as well as hosting anti-Iranian terrorist networks.
Yousefi advised the UK government to revise its behavior towards the Iranian nation, stop hosting and supporting terrorist and violent networks and individuals, and cease all-out support for the apartheid, genocidal, and terrorist regime of Israel, which he described as the greatest security threat to global peace and security.
It was also emphasized that the UK's continued hosting of terrorist networks funded and directed by the Israeli regime, whose main role is to incite violence and terrorism, violates the UK government's international legal obligations to refrain from supporting terrorism and must be stopped as soon as possible.
According to Mehr News, the summons comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the UK over various issues, including Iran's nuclear program and regional conflicts.
