Iran's Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei met with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi in Tehran on Tuesday, emphasizing the need to enhance judicial cooperation between the two neighboring countries. Ejei stated that Tehran harbors no hostility toward its neighbors and is committed to supporting them. He highlighted the strong and lasting ties between Iran and Iraq, asserting that foreign parties would not be able to undermine these relations.
Ejei praised the Iraqi government and people for their participation in the funeral ceremonies of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, describing the turnout as a sign of deep religious and cultural bonds between the two nations. He also criticized the United States, saying that Washington has subjected the Iranian people to various forms of hostility over the past 47 years, including propaganda, psychological warfare, economic terrorism, and security and military plots.
The judiciary chief added that the only path forward for the US and its president is to abandon excessive demands and bullying, and not to entertain the illusion that the Iranian people will surrender. He noted that US hostility and aggression against Iran have peaked over the past 18 months. Ejei reiterated that Iran has no animosity toward its neighbors and considers them friends.
In response, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Zaidi said that Iran today belongs not to any particular individual but to the ideas and beliefs of its people. He underlined that the Iraqi people, out of their love and devotion to Imam Hussein (a.s.), stand with the oppressed and oppose the oppressors. Al-Zaidi is in Tehran for talks with senior Iranian officials aimed at expanding bilateral relations in various fields.
According to Mehr News Agency, the meeting focused on strengthening judicial ties and broader cooperation between the two countries.
