Syrian Civil Defence mobilises after Israeli attacks

Ahmed al-Hajer, operations commander of the Civil Defence in the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate in southern Syria, reported that Israeli forces fired artillery shells and targeted a village and its surroundings with machine guns from a helicopter. According to Al Jazeera, al-Hajer stated that the bombardment did not result in casualties or material damage, but it caused panic among residents, prompting what he described as “a limited displacement movement to neighbouring towns.” Residents have since returned to the village.

The incident is part of a broader pattern of recent Israeli military activity in southern Syria. Israeli forces have conducted repeated strikes and ground incursions into Deraa and Quneitra provinces. The Syrian Civil Defence has mobilised to respond to such attacks, ensuring the safety of civilians and assessing damage.

According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), the report highlights the ongoing tensions in the region, with Israel targeting areas near the Golan Heights. The Syrian government has condemned these actions as violations of its sovereignty. The situation remains volatile, with international observers calling for restraint.
