Strait of Hormuz transit suspended due to US aggression: PGSA

The Persian Gulf Strategic Authority (PGSA) announced on Friday, July 31, that transit through the Strait of Hormuz remains suspended due to continued aggressive actions by United States military forces in the region. In a post on its X account, the authority stated, "In response to the repeated inquiries from applicants, we once again announce: Due to the continued aggressive actions of the United States military forces in the region, transit through the Strait of Hormuz is not possible."

The authority added that once stability and calm are restored, all applications will be reviewed according to their order of submission and schedule, and necessary permits will be issued gradually. This announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the region following what Iran describes as an unprovoked war of aggression launched by the US and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic on February 28.

Since that date, Iran has tightened its control over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint through which a significant portion of global oil trade passes. Tehran has maintained that all maritime traffic through the strait must comply with procedures established by the Iranian authorities. The suspension of transit has raised concerns about potential impacts on global energy supplies and regional shipping.

According to Mehr News Agency, the PGSA's statement reiterates its previous position and underscores the ongoing nature of the restrictions. The authority's message is directed at applicants seeking permits to transit the strait, clarifying that no transit is currently possible under the existing circumstances. The situation remains fluid, and the international community is closely monitoring developments in the region.
