A shooting at a block party in Vienna, Georgia, early Saturday morning left two men dead and several others injured, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. local time (0525 GMT) in the southern Georgia city, the bureau said in a statement.
County Sheriff Craig Peavy identified the deceased as men aged 21 and 23, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The injured were taken to regional hospitals, Peavy said. More than 1,000 people had gathered for the block party when at least 50 shots were fired, according to the sheriff. He noted that most of the injured were wounded by gunfire, while others were struck by cars as people fled the scene.
Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or named a potential motive for the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
