Serbia is set to hold early parliamentary elections, with the Republic Electoral Commission (REC) having registered 6,451,292 voters who will elect 250 lawmakers to serve four-year terms. Polling stations will open at 7:00 a.m. local time (6:00 a.m. GMT) and close at 8:00 p.m. (7:00 p.m. GMT). According to the REC, more than 16,000 observers, including 622 foreign observers, will monitor the voting process. The ballots will feature 18 electoral lists.

The main contenders are expected to be the United Serbia list of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, led by Aleksandar Vucic, who stepped down as the country’s president on September 27, and the Student List coalition. The elections are taking place amid a political climate shaped by Vucic's resignation and the formation of new electoral alliances.

The REC has emphasized the scale of the electoral process, with over 16,000 observers ensuring transparency. The 18 electoral lists represent a diverse range of political options for voters. The early elections are seen as a key moment for Serbia's political future, with the ruling party and the Student List coalition emerging as the primary competitors.

According to Mehr News, the electoral commission has completed its preparations for the vote, which will determine the composition of the 250-seat parliament for the next four years. The report added that the participation of foreign observers underscores the international attention on the electoral process.
