SaveVelayati says regional security is indivisible and Iran is central to West Asia order
Ali Akbar Velayati, the Advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution for International Affairs, said in a post on one of his social media accounts that any discussion of a new order in West Asia must take into account Iran's geographic position. He described Iran as a bridge connecting the Persian Gulf, Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Sea of Oman, and said that any energy or transit corridor seeking to bypass Iran would prove either prohibitively expensive or unsustainable.
Velayati said the "domino effect of crises" stretching from Gaza to the Red Sea and from Lebanon to Iraq has shown that regional security is indivisible. He stated that either collective security is achieved by everyone, or everyone will experience collective insecurity.
He further said that what he called the "tsunami of geopolitical shifts" in West Asia has affected the electoral landscapes of both Israel and the United States. From this, he concluded that Iran now stands as one of the primary architects of the regional order, a reality he said can neither be eliminated nor replaced.
The remarks were carried by Mehr News Agency, which reported the post under the headline that security is either for everyone or for no one. The statement comes amid ongoing regional tensions and wider debate over the shape of a post-conflict order in West Asia.
