Qatar denies high-level Iran-US talks scheduled

Qatar has denied reports of an impending high-level meeting between Iran and the United States, according to a statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari on Tuesday.

Al-Ansari confirmed that US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Qatar to meet with mediators and discuss progress in ongoing negotiations. However, he stressed that no high-level US-Iran meeting has been planned and that Doha does not expect senior Iranian officials to visit Qatar at this time.

The spokesman noted that the recent escalation in the Strait of Hormuz has not halted technical discussions between the parties. These talks continue to cover a range of issues, including Iran's nuclear program and its frozen assets.

Al-Ansari also stated that no breakthrough has yet been achieved that would allow the release of Iran's blocked funds. According to Mehr News, the Qatari official emphasized that while technical-level talks are ongoing, a high-level meeting is not on the agenda.
