Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, held phone conversations with several regional officials to discuss the latest developments and ways to reduce tensions. The calls included Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, the UAE's Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, the UAE's Deputy Ruler Tahnoun bin Zayed, and Turkish officials.
During these calls, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the need for all parties to adhere to dialogue and diplomacy and to implement the provisions of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. This memorandum addresses regional security and guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He called for joint coordination to support de-escalation and strengthen regional security and stability.
Qatar, alongside Pakistan, played a mediating role in the June ceasefire memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington. Qatar reiterated its support for all efforts to contain tensions and reach a comprehensive agreement aimed at achieving lasting stability in the region.
According to Mehr News Agency, the Qatari official's outreach reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to maintain calm in the Persian Gulf region and ensure the implementation of the Iran-US understanding.
