Videos verified by Al Jazeera show protesters in Washington, D.C., marching towards the White House despite heavy rain and an enhanced security presence. The demonstration was held to demand the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was visiting the city.
Separately, some protesters managed to storm the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, where Netanyahu was having dinner. Videos show the protesters trying to make it to the restaurant where Netanyahu was eating, before security officials forcibly removed them. Chants of “Bibi, Bibi, you can’t hide… you’re committing genocide,” can be heard in the footage.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and former Israeli war minister Yoav Gallant in 2024, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza. The protesters cited this warrant as the basis for their demand.
According to Mehr News Agency, the protest was part of ongoing international efforts to hold Israeli leaders accountable for alleged atrocities in Gaza.
