Iran's President Pezeshkian to address UN General Assembly in New York

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian left for New York to address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA). He was seen off on Tuesday by First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qomi, Deputy for International Relations at the Office of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and a number of his cabinet members.

During the visit, the president will address the UN General Assembly and hold high-profile talks with the leaders of several countries attending the session. He is also scheduled to meet influential political and cultural groups and figures.

The 81st session of the UN General Assembly is being held under the theme "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All." The high-level general debate is scheduled for September 22–26 and September 28 in New York, bringing together world leaders to discuss major international challenges.

The session's agenda also includes high-level meetings on climate action, development, sea-level rise, pandemic preparedness and other global issues.

According to Mehr News Agency, the trip combines the president's address to the assembly with a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings on the margins of the gathering.
