Iranian President Pezeshkian arrives in Islamabad for talks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a one-day official visit at the invitation of Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Upon his arrival, Pezeshkian was received by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Speaking before departing from Tehran, Pezeshkian said the visit follows extensive efforts by Pakistani officials to coordinate and finalize the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States. He specifically mentioned the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Pezeshkian described the role of Pakistani officials in defending the rights of the Iranian nation as "indispensable" in finalizing the agreement. "The efforts made by these dear ones were such that perhaps their concern for reaching an agreement and establishing peace in the region was greater than ours," he added.

Pezeshkian is leading a high-ranking delegation and is scheduled to hold separate meetings with Pakistani authorities during the visit. The discussions will focus on the most pressing issues of mutual interest between the two countries, including bilateral ties and regional peace.

According to Mehr News, the visit aims to strengthen relations and finalize the Iran-US MoU, which has been a key topic of diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad.
