Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Saturday that effective steps must be taken to move the country beyond what he described as a 'neither war nor peace' situation. He made the remarks at the Plan and Budget Organization (PBO) during a ceremony marking the Population and Housing Census in 2026.
At the beginning of his speech, Pezeshkian commemorated the founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini (RA), the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and those killed by what he termed the terrorist US and criminal Zionist regime during the 12-day and 40-day wars imposed against the country. He emphasized that effective steps are needed to move beyond the current situation.
Pezeshkian described the utilization of modern, smart knowledge and technologies as essential for service delivery and the prevention of disputes and conflicts. He emphasized that by making service delivery 'smart,' potential violations can be preempted in a timely manner. He also described the register-based census as an effective measure for intelligent management, oversight, and evaluation—grounded in the principles of justice and fairness. 'This is a significant and valuable undertaking. Move forward with determination, and by collecting accurate data, lay the groundwork for the realization of justice throughout the country. In this way, the cost-effectiveness of operational plans can be enhanced, and productivity increased,' he said.
According to Mehr News, the president's remarks came during a ceremony focused on the upcoming census, which he linked to broader goals of efficient governance and justice.
