Iran's President Pezeshkian tells UN General Assembly Iran is fully ready for defense

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, emphasizing Iran's full readiness for defense and its commitment to peaceful nuclear technology. At the start of his speech, Pezeshkian held up photographs of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and of schoolchildren from Minab in southern Iran who were killed in what he described as US-Israeli aggression. He stated that the United States bombed Iranian children in Lamerd using cluster bombs.

Pezeshkian asserted that the US and its supporters accuse Iran of terrorism while themselves committing the worst terrorist acts. He noted that Iran has not attacked or invaded any country for 200 years but defends itself steadfastly. According to the Iranian president, Iran must be powerful enough that no one would consider bombing its cities without facing a response. He added that Iran will not forgo its rights to the peaceful use of nuclear technology.

The president said the US and its backers want to close Iran's waterways while using them as supply lines for their own goals. He stated that resistance cannot be defeated by bombs or acts of aggression. He further asserted that a war was imposed on Iran, but its adversaries learned that Iranians are not afraid of war. Pezeshkian also pointed out that nuclear weapons are in Israel, yet IAEA inspectors are rushing to come to Iran. He stressed that the world must not be one where military power is used to enforce hegemony.

In conclusion, Pezeshkian said that while Tehran is ready for negotiations, it will not accept the language of bullying. He noted that US President Donald Trump's language of force in his UNGA address the previous day clearly showed that the US president still sticks to threats.
