Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived back in Tehran on Friday evening after a two-day visit to Turkmenistan, where he attended the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Environmental Summit of the Heads of Caspian Sea Littoral States. He departed from the city of Turkmenbashi for the Iranian capital, according to Mehr News Agency (MNA).
During the visit, Pezeshkian held meetings and discussions with the presidents of Russia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The talks covered a range of bilateral and regional issues.
In his speeches at the CIS summit and the Caspian Sea Forum, Pezeshkian addressed challenges facing the region and emphasized the importance of multilateral relations, countering unilateralism, and energy cooperation. He also discussed other political, economic, social, and security matters, according to the report.
The visit underscores Iran's continued engagement with regional and international groupings, including the CIS and the SCO, as well as its participation in forums concerning the Caspian Sea. The report by Mehr News Agency added that Pezeshkian's remarks focused on the need for cooperative approaches to regional issues.
