Iranian General Predicts Palestinian Resistance Will Liberate Al-Quds

Brigadier General Esmaeil Ghaani, a senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has expressed confidence that the Palestinian resistance movement will succeed in liberating Al-Quds (Jerusalem). Drawing parallels to historical victories of resistance movements in Iran and Lebanon, Ghaani stated that the Palestinian struggle will pave suitable ways for the liberation of the holy city.

Speaking on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr, Ghaani referred to the May 24, 1982, liberation of the Iranian city during the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988). He described this event as setting the stage for what he called the "glorious epic" of May 25, 2000, when Hezbollah successfully expelled Israeli forces from southern Lebanon. "During that withdrawal, the Israeli army fled while their radios were still on, and all their equipment was left behind in the trenches," Ghaani said.

General Ghaani emphasized that the resistance of "dear Palestine today and heroic Lebanon" will similarly lead to the liberation of Al-Quds. He drew a direct line from the victory in Khorramshahr to the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, suggesting a pattern of resistance triumphing over occupation.

The liberation of Khorramshahr in 1982 was a major victory for Iran during Operation Beit al-Moqaddas, after 578 days of occupation by the Iraqi Ba'ath Army. In Lebanon, Israeli forces withdrew on May 25, 2000, ending 22 years of occupation, following a humiliating defeat at the hands of Hezbollah and other resistance groups.

According to Mehr News Agency, General Ghaani's remarks underscore the IRGC's continued support for Palestinian resistance groups and its view of the struggle as part of a broader regional resistance against Israeli occupation.
