Pakistan announces Iran-US peace deal, signing set for Friday

The Pakistani government announced on Monday night that a peace deal between Iran and the United States has been reached, with the official signing ceremony scheduled for Friday, 19 June, in Switzerland. According to a statement from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, both sides have agreed to an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

The statement said that before the signing, technical delegations from Iran and the US will discuss the provisions of the deal. Sharif also expressed appreciation for Qatar's mediating efforts, as well as contributions from Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump claimed on Truth Social that "The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete."

However, as of the time of this report, Iranian officials have not confirmed the news. The statement from Pakistan's Prime Minister read: "Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland."

Sharif further thanked the US and Iran for their commitment to a diplomatic solution and extended gratitude to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for their support. He added that mediators will facilitate a series of meetings this week to lay the foundation for technical talks and the signing ceremony. According to Mehr News, the report is based on a statement from the Pakistani government.
