Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif to attend Ayatollah Khamenei's funeral in Iran

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Iran and Turkiye from July 3-5 to attend the funeral of late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tahir Andrabi told reporters on Monday.

Around 600 foreign journalists and media representatives are expected to cover the funeral ceremonies, which are scheduled to be held from July 4-9. The funeral will include processions and mourning rituals across major cities in Iran.

Sharif's visit underscores the close ties between Pakistan and Iran, as well as the significance of the late Leader's role in the region. The Pakistani delegation is expected to offer condolences and participate in the official ceremonies.

According to Mehr News, the funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Iranian authorities, with high-level participation from various countries. The report by Mehr News added that the event will be one of the largest gatherings of international dignitaries in recent years.
