Iran says no new US talks planned for delegation at UN General Assembly

An Iranian source, speaking to the Iranian media outlet IRNA on condition of anonymity, has rejected conflicting reports about talks between Iran and the United States in New York, where an Iranian delegation has traveled to attend the United Nations General Assembly's annual session. According to IRNA, the source stated that Iran's considerations and positions were conveyed clearly and explicitly to the American side last Tuesday through the Qatari mediator, and that Iran is awaiting the American side's response.

The source added that accordingly, there is no plan for a new round of negotiations with the American side on the agenda of Iran's delegation, and that the foreign minister will return home on Tuesday after completing his scheduled programs. President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to New York this week to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The President has arrived back home, but the foreign minister is still in the United States.

The denial comes after US President Donald Trump claimed earlier on Sunday that the two sides were scheduled to meet again this week. The source's remarks were described as a continuation of contradictory statements from the US side. The report by Mehr News added that the Iranian delegation's focus remains on the UN General Assembly session, with no plans for direct negotiations with the US during the visit.
