Iran Rejects NATO's Baseless Claims on Nuclear Program and Strait of Hormuz

The Islamic Republic of Iran has categorically rejected the allegations raised by NATO regarding its peaceful nuclear program and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, describing them as baseless and politically motivated. In a statement issued by Iran's embassy in Brussels, the country emphasized that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and that Iran, as a responsible state and a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), has consistently maintained that nuclear weapons have no place in its defense doctrine.

Regarding maritime security, the embassy pointed out that Iran has played a responsible role in maintaining security and guaranteeing freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. It asserted that the primary source of insecurity in the region stems from illegal military interventions, provocative actions, and destabilizing policies of extra-regional actors, not from Iran.

The statement further criticized NATO for supporting and facilitating acts of aggression against the Iranian people, arguing that the alliance lacks the standing to lecture Iran or prescribe solutions for regional peace and security. It also highlighted that the United States and the Israeli regime bombed the negotiating table and prioritized aggression over diplomacy.

According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), the statement was issued in response to recent NATO declarations that raised concerns over Iran's nuclear activities and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
