Esmaeil Kowsari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian parliament (Majlis), stated in an interview with Mehr News Agency on Saturday that Iran should close the Strait of Hormuz and respond militarily if the Zionist regime continues its attacks on Lebanon. He criticized the United States for failing to implement a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to curb what he called the "barbaric actions" of the Zionist regime. Kowsari warned that if the US lacks the necessary will to enforce the MoU and ceasefire, it should be clearly announced that both the ceasefire and the understanding have been violated by the United States and the Zionist occupation regime. The remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz being a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. Kowsari's statement reflects a hardline stance within Iran's political establishment, urging a more aggressive response to Israeli operations in Lebanon. According to Mehr News Agency, Kowsari emphasized that Iran's strategies must be adjusted to counter the continued aggression, potentially escalating the conflict beyond diplomatic measures.
