TEHRAN, Jul. 06 (MNA) – The streets of Iran's capital were packed by a vast crowd on Monday as the funeral procession for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei got underway.
Millions of mourners from across the country converged on Tehran to pay their final respects to the late leader, who passed away recently. The procession began at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque and proceeded toward the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery, where the burial is scheduled to take place.
Security forces were deployed in large numbers to manage the crowds, which stretched for kilometers along the route. Many mourners carried portraits of Ayatollah Khamenei and chanted slogans in his honor. The atmosphere was one of deep sorrow and reverence.
