Explosion reported near ship off Yemen, crew safe

A loud explosion was reported near a ship off the coast of Yemen, raising alarm in the region. The incident occurred approximately 95 nautical miles (176 kilometers) southeast of Aden, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). All crew members aboard the vessel have been accounted for and are safe, the UKMTO confirmed. The organization did not immediately provide further details about the cause of the explosion or identify any responsible party.

The incident adds to ongoing security concerns for commercial shipping in waters near Yemen. In recent years, vessels in the area have faced attacks and other maritime threats, prompting heightened vigilance and international naval patrols. The Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea are critical shipping lanes for global trade, and any disruption can have significant economic and security implications.

The UKMTO, which monitors maritime security and issues advisories to shipping, has not yet released additional information. Authorities are likely to investigate the cause of the explosion, but no further details have been made public at this time. The safety of the crew has been confirmed, but the vessel's condition and any potential damage remain unknown.

This event occurs against a backdrop of regional tensions and previous incidents involving commercial vessels in the area. The international community has expressed concern over the safety of maritime navigation in these waters. The UKMTO's report is a standard procedure in such incidents, and further updates may follow as more information becomes available.

According to the report by Mehr News Agency, the UKMTO stated that all crew members are safe, but did not provide additional details. The agency added that the incident raises alarm amid continued security concerns around commercial shipping near Yemen.
