Major General Esmaeil Ghaani, commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), issued a warning on Monday via a post on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the ongoing conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza. He stated that the "evil acts of the Zionists in Lebanon and Gaza, which come under the shameless support from America, will strengthen the Axis of Resistance's will to expand support to both fronts, and take action to activate other fronts, and link the traffic situation of the Bab al-Mandab Strait with that of the Strait of Hormuz."
General Ghaani further emphasized that the "miserable Zionist regime must know that the simultaneous crimes in southern Lebanon and Gaza will drag it in the quagmire of Hezbollah operations and the renewed [al-Aqsa] Storm of Palestinian youth." His remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Israel conducting military operations in both southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. The Axis of Resistance, which includes Iran, Hezbollah, and various Palestinian factions, has been actively supporting these fronts.
The mention of linking the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a strategic waterway off the coast of Yemen, with the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for oil shipments near Iran, suggests a potential escalation that could disrupt global maritime traffic. The Houthi movement in Yemen, part of the Axis of Resistance, has previously targeted ships in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
According to Mehr News Agency, General Ghaani's statement underscores the growing coordination among resistance groups and the potential for a broader regional conflict. The IRGC Quds Force is responsible for extraterritorial operations and has been instrumental in supporting allied groups across the Middle East. The post on X reflects the official stance of the Quds Force amid the ongoing crisis.
